Elaine Dean and Michael Phillips Recognized as Tobey Auto Group Student Athletes of the Week

Vandalia, OH – Chris Tobey, President of the Tobey Auto Group, was happy to present Elaine Dean from Butler High School and Michael Phillips from Northmont High School with this week’s Tobey Auto Group Athletes of the Week award. Elaine and Michael were chosen by their respective schools because of their excellent performance both in the classroom and on the field. As a part of the award, they will both receive a $250 scholarship from the Tobey Auto Group at the end of the school year at the awards program and will also be eligible with other chosen student athletes of the week to receive a $5,000 scholarship at the end of the year.

Elain maintains a 4.36 GPA, and has been on the varsity swim team for three years. She also has been a swimming district qualifier for three years running. Elain is active in the St. Christopher youth ministry program including participating in mission trips. She is the Secretary of the Butler High School Interact Club and she organized her own group to help special needs adults in the Dayton area.

Michael has a 3.844 GPA. He has been a member of the Northmont Football team for four years and has lettered for the last three. He also has run track for three years. Michael is active with this youth ministry and regularly serves food to the Dayton homeless. He currently works two jobs including a landscaping business he runs on his own.

Each week the Tobey Auto Group will recognize two students chosen by their respectful schools during the Thursday Night Lights football broadcast produced by FOX45 News. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year a total of $10,000 in scholarship money will be awarded in support of our local student athletes.
